As if Giraffe Manor hasn’t got enough, we would like to inform the extended Giraffe Manor family that they are opening up a ‘wellness with Giraffes, pool, spa & sauna’. Otherwise known as The Retreat, which will feature a brand-new pool, spa and day room facility and will be opening its doors on the 1st August this year (2021).
Giraffe Manor is possibly one of the most famous properties in the world due to its unique dining companions – the giraffes! It is probably one of the most instagrammed properties through the world as well. Set within the Langata suburb of Nairobi, the property sits within 12 acres of private land within Langata’s 140-acre indigenous forest. Harking back to the 1930’s when the first visitors flocked to East Africa to enjoy the safari and adventure experience. Originally built as a hunting lodge in the 1930’s, it now does the complete opposite and are huge pioneers in conservation, especially with the very endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Giraffe Manor has an air of an English Country estate and wouldn’t look at all out of place within Suffolk! With elegant interiors, a stately façade, lush green gardens, sunny courtyards and terraces it is like stepping onto the set of Out of Africa. Giraffe Manor has a resident heard of Rothschild Giraffes who will often visit morning and evening, in search of tasty nibbles and the chance to pose in one of Instagram photos – they love the limelight!
A haven of wellness is now an added bonus when staying at Giraffe Manor. With sumptuous new day rooms, an infinity pool overlooking the giraffe sanctuary, yummy vibrant food at Daisy’s Café and two incredibly soothing treatment rooms – steam room, sauna, hot tub and if you’re feeling at all energetic, there is a gym as well. It is the ultimate space in which to start or end your safari in Kenya.
This hasn’t been an easy process and The Retreat at Giraffe Manor has been a long time in the making. The countdown is finally on however, for the big unveiling scheduled for August 1st. Professional photographers are currently in the process of being taken, but as soon as Giraffe Manor has their hands on, we will be the first to pass on these images to their extended family – you! You may even be tempted to re-book another stay, well, why not? The spa needs be tested after all!
The Retreat is located in the same vicinity as the Manor itself. Its overall design is to pay homage to the original house. The Retreat will be an elegant mix of open plan indoor and outdoor spaces. High ceilings and impressively large arched windows frame the Manor’s iconic herd of giraffes which might be glimpsed loping serenely across the lawns in the distance or at the end of the infinity pool.
The facilities will be free to overnight guests in residence at Giraffe Manor, excluding spa treatments, food and drinks. The giraffes sadly do not have access to the rooms or the dining areas in The Retreat. However, direct contact with the giraffes is possible at the end of the pool, although as wild animals Giraffe Manor cannot guarantee their presence at any given time. The Retreat, like the Garden Manor version of the Main Manor, is only open to guests, meaning it can only be booked in combination with another of The Safari Collections properties – Sasaab, Solio Lodge or Sala’s Camp.
For more information on how to book Giraffe Manor or any of the other properties, please do not hesitate to contact us! We cannot wait to plan your escape… but you have to be quick, Giraffe Manor is a very sought after property!
