Okahirongo Elephant Loge is situated in the Kunene Region in the Purros Conservancy, 55km from the coast and around 200km south of the Kunene River. This is the only place in the world where desert elephants, black rhinos, giraffes and lions live in a desert environment. The lodge consists of 7 luxurious en suite chalets as well as a suite with two rooms and combined living area, all overlooking spectacular views. The cottages are decorated in a rich and sensuous fusion of ochre, honey and sand colors, whilst each one has its own unique style and atmosphere; ethnic and locally carved furnishing adds to the romance and excitement of the pervading African ambience. The lodge has a spectacular wraparound view and you can spend your days lazing around the pool, reading a book in the cool comfort of the library. Game drives here are with experts, and are a highlight of any Northern Namibia trip.
Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is one of the last true wildernesses and based in Kaokoveld, the home to the nomadic Himba tribe. Elephant Lodge overlooks the Hoarusib River and is one of the most remote lodges in Namibia. The infinity pool is so relaxing you’ll want to stay there all day and the food is delicious. Your room boasts a bath tub and two showers, and also a comfy day bed with fantastic views. The game viewing here is good with desert adapted lion, rhino and elephant all living in the area. Night and day game drives, walking and visits to the Himba people are a must.
