At XIGERA LODGE, every aspect of your experience is as captivating as the untamed wilderness that surrounds us. Xigera are thrilled to share with you the breath taking design journey that transformed Xigera into a living masterpiece – an oasis of creativity and craftsmanship that celebrates the rich heritage of Africa’s wild spaces. Xigera is one of Botswana’s top Okavango Delta safari camps, everything here is quite literally as good as it gets from the guiding team, to the gourmet menus, and large suites overlooking an exceptionally game rich area of the world famous Delta.
Step into the world of the XIGERA Design Collection, where every detail tells a story of connection to the natural wonders of the Okavango Delta. Conceptualised by visionary minds Toni Tollman, Philip Fourie, and Anton de Kock – in collaboration with the renowned Southern Guild gallery – the Xigera Design Collection is a testament to bold creativity and true African craftsmanship. Xigera commissioned exclusive works from some of the continent’s most exciting artists and artisans, ensuring that each piece is not only a work of art but also a reflection of the spirit of Africa.
Xigera invite you to embark on a journey through the design treasures of Xigera Safari Lodge. Marvel at the wooden benches and chairs crafted by Adam Birch, each one twisting and folding to hold you in a gentle embrace. Experience the dramatic fireplace of hand-beaten copper, echoing the form of a lily – a motif that symbolises the essence of Xigera.
But perhaps the most captivating feature of this remarkable lodge is the striking steel structure of The Baobab Treehouse – a 10-metre contemporary expression of the iconic painting of a solitary baobab tree by Jacobus Hendrik Pierneef, one of South Africa’s master landscape artists.
Xigera’s Art & Design Tour unveils the vibrant tapestry of African creativity. Delve into the stories behind our key pieces, as our team shares the inspiration and craftsmanship behind each masterpiece. This lodge really encompasses a true celebration of Africa and all the incredible talent on this amazing continent – every moment of your time spent here will be immersed in the culture and colours of Africa, all interspersed with amazing wildlife viewing and delicious food. This is the Okavango Delta at its very best.
The food at Xigera is a huge highlight. Chef Ziyaad runs the show and his menus are to die for. From his diverse culinary influences to his commitment to sustainability, Chef Ziyaad’s passion shines through in every dish, making dining at Xigera a truly unique and memorable experience – guests don’t often associate their safari with a culinary experience but Xigera provides just that, giving many a Cape Town restaurant a run for their money.
Xigera is wonderful all year round, but wildlife viewing is particularly productive from July-October, although if visiting at any time of year you will always be treated to something spectacular – Africa always provides the goods, and the Delta is certainly no exception to this.
