Wildflower Hall
What we love: a colonial house in an outstanding location.
Formerly the residence of Lord Kitchener, Wildflower Hall, a turreted, fairytale castle, has the ambience of a grand stately home nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas and offers spectacular views. The 87 rooms include three deluxe suites and the superb Lord Kitchener suite. The bedrooms have modern amenities whilst retaining the feel of the original home and have luxurious marble bathrooms. Choose between garden, mountain or valley views. Dining takes place either in the impressive dining room with its teak pillars and latticework or the adjoining conservatory and, when the weather permits, tables are set up on the outdoor terrace. The menu offers a choice of Indian, Continental and Asian cuisine. Romantic dinners can be enjoyed at the private hillside gazebo. The Cavalry Bar, with its roaring log fire and war memorabilia on the walls is a cosy space to enjoy and a drink. The Oberoi Spa offers a wide range of treatments and private Yoga sessions are available. The open air jacuzzi has magnificent views of the Greater Himalayas or take swim in the indoor pool with its grand arches and enormous chandeliers. Very cleverly, the surface of the tennis court is actually rubber tiles and in the winter they remove them, fill it with water and create an ice skating rink. After walking through the pine and cedar forests what could be better than arriving at a stunning location and finding a picnic set up for you with table and chairs and rugs and cushions on which to relax. For the more active, mountain biking, white water rafting and golf are all available in this mountain hideaway.
