Sujan Jawai
The Sujan Jawai leopard camp – What we love: the mix of old and new in a stunning landscape.
In 2014 Sujan’s visionary owners, Jaisal and Anjali Singh, designed this luxury camp in an area renowned for leopards and an impressive and varied landscape of hills, grasslands and winding sand riverbeds. The local Rajbari herdsman with their colourful red turbans are to be seen tending to their flocks and are delighted to share their countryside and way of life with guests.
The 9 luxurious tents including a Royal suite and a 2 bedroom family suite, are spacious and well spread out offering privacy and seclusion. Designed in a contemporary, industrial style with brushed steel furniture and a black and white colour palette with splashes of red to represent the Rajbari herdsmen, these tents are at the forefront of modern safari camps. Each tent has a large verandah offering extensive views and the ensuite bathrooms are stylish with powerful showers. The Royal Tented Suite offers another level of privacy and luxury with its own heated swimming pool, dedicated butler and a private vehicle for game drives.
Delicious meals are prepared using local produce from the Camp’s own garden and farms with fish being caught locally. There is a stylish dining tent with views of the hills where you can watch the “live cooking” and dinners can also be served around the camp fire or in the camp boma. Private dining is offered in unique locations.
Game drives are obviously a highlight here, but take advantage of the Camp’s stunning swimming pool, have a massage or take a walk with the shepherds and get an authentic insight to this ancient way of life. Yoga can be arranged in stunning locations. A guided walk through the local villages allows for the discovery of a rural India that remains unchanged and visit some of the 300 temples dotted through this extraordinary landscape. Sujan Jawai offers an extraordinary mix of wildlife, stunning landscapes and supreme comfort and levels of hospitality. The wonderful staff will look after you like Royalty.
