Jamtara

What we love: dinners in the forest.

This luxury tented camp is situated in the buffer zone of Pench National Park and has its own private entrance due to there being no other camps or lodges in this area. Realizing his dream, the owner, a passionate wildlife conservationist, chose this spot for his tented camp due to the excellent wildlife sightings in this area of the Park, the friendly local villagers and the enormous Banyan tree dominating the centre of the plot.

There are 10 spacious, light and airy tents with attached shower rooms with solid walls. Your verandah is the perfect place to sit and listen to the sounds of the jungle all around you. One highlight of a stay here is to spend a night under the stars on a raised platform in a neighbour’s field in the surrounding countryside. Or the camp will set up your bed on your verandah complete with a hot water bottle and a quilt. Dining is a social affair in the main lodge’s beautiful dining room and memorable, private bush dinners can be set up for you. At lunch time the table is often placed in the shade of a tree on the property. There is a library, a bar and a refreshing swimming pool.

Jamtara Wilderness Camp is committed to conserving and respecting the natural environment and they have maintained an excellent working relationship with the local community. Vegetables are sourced from local farmers and their naturalists visit local schools to educate the children in conservation.
